Philadelphia, PA -- The Church of Pentecost USA, Inc. New York Region, with its huge
membership as one of the biggest in America, held its annual Easter
Convention at the Sheraton Hotel Philadelphia City Center located on
17th and Race Street.
Among the noted dignitaries were; Rev. David Tekper, Regional
Head - NY who was the main speaker,
Rev. Peter Amponsah, Rev. Stephen Omane Yeboah, Rev. Sam Arthur,
Rev. Saka Ntiamoah, Pennsylvania District Pastor/Host of the convention
and many more.
The theme for the occasion reads; Jesus, the Mediator of the New
Convenant (Hebrews 12:24).
In his welcoming remarks, Rev.Ntiamoah took the opportunity on
behalf of the entire membership of Pennsylvania District to welcome
everyone at the 2007 convention.
"The theme is apt for this occasion as we remember the death of
Jesus on the cross, and His resurrection. As the world accelerates at
an alarming rate, its people tend to be oblivious of the expected
glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ. The world is plunged into
countless acts of cruelty. There is blatant disregard for human life.
Political conflicts and world tensions abound, Obviously, there is
unfathomable hopelessness and helplessness in the world we live in.
However we are confident that our God has divine purpose for our lives,
more especially at this convention." He said.
Rev. Saka continued that the world needs Christ, the Mediator of
the New Convenant. "The message of the new convenant has propelled the
world to move against Christians in a radical way. However, in the
suffering and death of Messiah, Fulfiller and Mediator of this new
convenant, who reconciles our relationship to God through his atonement
of our sins that was paid once for all."
The event showcased Gospel musicians; Grace Nyamekye, Stella
Addo, Grace Dansowaa, Rebecca Osei and others.
The highlight of the convention was an interesting and well
presented short play based on a woman who became sick and died. Angels
took her to meet the Heavenly father. The devil who had caused her death
followed the angels to heaven. The devil complained to the Heavenly
father about the woman's bad behavior on earth.
The devil said she was not fit for heaven and wanted her back.
The Heavenly father had mercy on the woman and said he has forgiven her
sins and will not return her to the devil. The woman was resurrected
and she gave her life to Christ.
Participants were moved by the message of the play and agreed
that God is awesome and he forgives the sinner.
Christians from all walks of life participated in this
motivational and powerful convention. There were lots of unforgettable
non-stop praises and worship moments.
Philadelphia has also been chosen to host a subsequent August
event - DON'T MISS IT !!
Rev. Ntiamoah and the entire membership of Pennsylvania District
would like thank all for being part of the wonderful and successful
event.
