Ghana international Michael Essien has been ranked the most influential footballer in the 2015 Ghana Social Media Rankings.
The Panathinaikos midfielder beat the likes of Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan, Kwadwo Asamoah, and Kevin-Prince Boateng in the ranking.
Conducted by CliqAfrica, a digital agency in Accra, Ghana, the company said Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, which are notably used by these personalities were utilised in analysing social media engagements, post reaches, and mentions.
Essien has been an active user of his social media pages in supporting various humanitarian campaigns for Africa and in other parts of the world.
