Antalyaspor striker and four-time African Footballer of the Year, Samuel Eto’o, believes team-mate Samuel Inkoom deserves a place in Ghana national team.
Inkoom joined the Turkish outfit from Portuguese club Boavista in January and has made seven league appearances for the Scorpions so far.
“Inkoom is an excellent player, he is very good on the ball and got speed as well,” Eto’o was quoted as saying by GhanaSports newspaper.
“I think he must be invited into the Ghana team, he is a good asset for Ghana and he will become a national star soon.”
A member of Ghana’s historic Fifa Under-20 World Cup-winning team in 2009, Inkoom was selected by then Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac for the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola and the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa.
At club level, the versatile defender has previously represented Major League Soccer outfit DC United as well as Ukrainian side Dnipro, from which he was shipped on double loans to French club Bastia in 2013 and Platanias of Greece in 2014.
The 26-year-old made his European breakthrough with Swiss side Basel, joining the Bebbi on a four-year deal in 2009 following a string of fine performances for Kotoko in the local topflight and the Caf Champions League.
