Henry Asante Twum, Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has blamed the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on their inability to secure wins in home games.
The team ended the qualifiers with three draws and three losses, finishing last in Group F with three points. Asante Twum identified the 1-0 loss to Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium as the turning point.
“Losing to Angola at home was the genesis of our problems,” he stated. Ghana’s subsequent failure to capitalize on home advantage against Sudan and poor results in away games compounded the setback.
The Black Stars now shift focus to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, set to resume in March 2025.
