Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President George Afriyie has disclosed a key clause in Otto Addo’s contract that permits the GFA to terminate his role as Black Stars coach due to the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Speaking on Asempa FM, Afriyie revealed, “One of the clauses for the GFA to terminate Otto Addo’s contract is if he does not qualify the team for the AFCON.”
The Black Stars’ poor showing in the qualifiers—finishing last in Group F with three points—has fueled criticism from fans and stakeholders.
The GFA Executive Council is set to meet on November 20 to review the team’s performance and discuss Addo’s future, with termination now a possibility under the contract’s terms.
