Head of Sports for Happy 98.9FM, Odiasempa Kwame Oware has called for the cancellation of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League (GPL) due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is engaging the various stakeholders to determine whether the season should end or continue.
The GFA has up to Tuesday, May 5, 2020 to respond to CAF on the future of the Ghana Premier League as it awaits it Member Associations before deciding on its Inter-club competitions.
Odiasempa Kwame Oware in an interview with Happyghana.com says the league should be cancelled since there is no clear path for football to return, “The GPL must be cancelled due to Covid-19.
On clubs representing Ghana in Africa, he suggested that the Executive Council must inform clubs who are willing to participate in Africa next season to notify the FA.
He said “If two clubs decide to go then there should be a play-off to determine who plays in the Champions League and Confederation Cup”.
“If more than two are willing to go then it should be a round Robin game to select two for both Champions league and Confederation Cup.
He added that there shouldn’t be any demotion and promotion subjected to approval by Congress.
