International Sports Consultant, Al-Wahab Farouk says the Ghana Football Association (GFA) cannot take any decision on the future of the 2019/20 football season without considering or consulting Government.
The GFA on Tuesday 5 May, 2020 responded to the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF)’s directive on the future of the league as the continent’s football governing body enquires from it member associations.
The GFA has asked CAF for an extension of two weeks to decide on its Football season.
According to Al-Wahab, the directive from CAF to its member associations on the future of their leagues is misguided as football associations cannot take a decision during this pandemic without consulting their various governments.
“Whether we dialogue or not for two weeks Kurt Okraku cannot decide whether the season should continue or not. The GFA must confirm from the Sports Ministry before they can communicate with CAF about the situation in the country”, he told Ohene Bampoe-Brenya on Happy Sports on Happy 98.9FM
“What the Government of Ghana says is paramount at this time and not CAF. GFA should also request from CAF what plans it has for the Association. This shouldn’t be a headache for the FA”, he added.
