President of the Ghana Football Association Kurt Okraku has stated that the upcoming Super Clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko is a perfect opportunity to make more vocal the GFA’s campaign against hooliganism.
Kurt Okraku made this known during a press conference to usher in the match which takes place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday in a Ghana Premier League Match Week 6 encounter.
The game comes at a time when Ghana Football is on a redemption course after being saddled with issues crippling the progress of the game.
Notable among them is acts of hooliganism which has already been a feature this season. Crowd disturbance after a league game between Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea led to a Kotoko fan being allegedly shot by a policeman. Subsequently the GFA has charged Asante Kotoko and some of its officials for their involvement in the matter.
The GFA has also initiated a campaign to clamp down on hooliganism and ahead of the Hearts versus Kotoko encounter, Kurt Okraku made it known to the media that his outfit remains committed towards combating hooliganism and making the game enjoyable and well appreciated by the masses.
