Former Ghana U17 coach J.E Sarpong says the Black Stars lacked team spirit.
Sarpong speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, says the spirit of every good team is their support base.
“The spirit of the team was off. We lacked flamboyance, cohesion, skill and the beautiful football we are noted for. There was no support, which accounted for the bad performance”, he said.
On the issue of disbanding the team and relieving Avram Grant of his post, Sarpong said we should not disband the team outright.
“We must not disband the team outright. We must keep a few of the players and build the team around them. We must look at some of the players on the local front and blend them with a few from Europe. We must motivate the local players, and they can play equally as the foreign based players”, he continued.
On the dismissal of Grant, Sarpong said the decision rested in the bosom of the Ghana Football Association.
