Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, has stated that hosting the 2023 African Games has significantly enhanced Ghana's sports facilities and elevated its status among African nations.
Addressing Parliament, Ussif highlighted the government's investment in sports infrastructure, particularly the world-class Aquatic Centre at Borteyman.
He noted that Ghana is now a preferred destination for international sports events, with requests from bodies like the Commonwealth Youth Games.
Ghana recently hosted an international athletics championship and won the bid to host the 2026 African Athletics Championship. Ussif outlined plans to maintain the facilities, including proposals for private sector management.
