There is a prevailing sentiment that the entire Matchday 12 schedule should have been delayed, as many believe it is not the appropriate time to prioritize football. Barcelona's head coach, Hansi Flick, shared his perspective ahead of the upcoming match against Espanyol.
“I’m uncertain whether the match should be postponed. We have Ferran, who is from that area. Making a decision is challenging. A similar situation occurred in Germany three years ago. We stand in solidarity with them, but ultimately, it’s a decision for La Liga to make.
“If it were up to me, I might choose to suspend the match due to the tragedy affecting Valencia and Spain.”
Regarding the match, Flick emphasized that his Barcelona team is fully committed to securing a victory.
“I understand the significance of this derby. It will be a tough match following a strong week. It’s crucial to play with full intensity. We always prepare thoroughly. While it’s nice to celebrate our recent success, we must remain focused. Our training session was intense, and we recognize that the journey ahead is long. We are performing well, but concentration is key.”
