Ghanaian businessman Alfred Agbese Woyome has revealed he led negotiations for the Black Stars to establish camps in Barcelona, Spain and Dubai ahead of the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups respectively.
The Black Stars had successful campaigns at both the 2006 and the 2010 Mundial where the team progressed to the round of 16 for the first time at their first attempt in 2006 and then made it to the quarter-finals at their second appearance on the world stage.
The good results will certainly be attributed to good preparation and the self-acclaimed financier of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alfred Agbese Woyome, claims he played a big role in the team’s success at both tournaments.
“I arranged for the Ghana Black Stars to embark on a training camp in Barcelona, Spain prior to the 2006 World Cup in Germany which resulted in the team’s splendid and impressive performance into the tournament,” He told Aseda FM.
