Samuel Inkoom has been named as captain for the Olympic team's All-Africa Games qualifier against Nigeria on Sunday.
Coach Kwesi Appiah confirmed the full-back will lead out the Black Meteors for the first leg game of the final round of qualifying.
"I think it is very important to have leader who works hard for his collagues and Samuel Inkoom represents that player," said Appiah, giving his reason for handing the captain's armband to the Dnipro FC player.
Ghana plays against their rivals for a place at the Games to be staged in Mozambique.
The game would be played in Benin State for the sole ticket from Zone III.
