Ghanaian striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom is ecstatic after scoring his first UEFA Champions League Group stage goal on Tuesday evening.
The 26-year-old climbed off the bench to grab the third for Red Star Belgrade as they rallied to beat 10-man Olympiacos 3-1 at home.
In the 90th minute, Boakye-Yiadom jumped highest inside the box to meet a perfectly executed corner kick by Marko Marin to seal the win.
Speaking in his post match reflections, the Ghanaian international savored the moment and thanked all his fans for their support and prayers.
“I’m happy and I thank God for giving me this first goal in Champions League this season. it’s amazing and it’s a great feeling to just head the ball and watch how it flies into the net. Its just amazing!
All credit goes to almighty God because without Him there’s is no Boakye-Yiadom. And I also thank all Ghanaians for their support. It’s a great feeling to be part of Champions League history!”
