Accra, Feb 13, GNA - The Ghana Karate Association would organise a championship contest later in the year for the national team to be better composed to represent Ghana at the zonal championship slated for Benin in August.
The exercise, which is to reform the national team, would be extended to all the regions with the national capital, Accra being the first point of call.
Sensei Melvin Brown, Technical Director of the Association said they are soon to hold a meeting with officials of the National Sports Council and the Ministry of Education and Sports for assistance and sponsorship of the programme
"We are presently doing voluntary work as members of the executive of the association but the time has come for the recognition of our efforts and channelling of resources to develop the sport in the country".
The Technical Director lamented that there was too much concentration on soccer to the disadvantage of the other sporting disciplines, which he said in the end kills the spirit of those who have made it their aim to sacrifice their time
