Ghana top-flight side Legon Cities have rubbished claims that they are no the verge of sacking 20 players before the Premier League resumes.
The nouveau-rich club have been embarking on a campaign to sign top players to augment the squad in the competition that is on a coronavirus-induced break.
A news website claimed on Monday that the club is on the verge of sacking 20 players because they have not met up to the standard.
Legon Cities FC Communications Director Kwame Dwomoh-Agyemang says even though they are looking to invigorate the club they will not be sacking 20 players.
“There is no truth in that, obviously we are looking at getting in a few players to augment our squad before the football season resumes,” Dwomoh-Agyemang said.
“We can only register 30 players at a time, so what’s likely to happen is that when the new players come in, certain players might have to move or go on loan”.
“But I can categorically tell you that we are not letting 20 players go anywhere."
Legon Cities are 15th with 16 points after 15 games. They will be hoping to improve when the returns from suspension caused by coronavirus pandemic.
