On talkSPORT, Bent praised Partey’s performance, especially in his duel with Diaz, which resulted in the winger being substituted by coach Arne Slot.
He remarked, “Thomas Partey played like traditional fullbacks; when the first challenge came, they went wide. He did that on Luis Diaz, and it’s almost like he went down.” Bent noted that Liverpool adjusted their strategy to play long balls due to Partey’s positioning and tactical insight.
He concluded, “But I think it worked, and that’s why they took Diaz off. After a while, he just couldn’t get the better of Partey, and that was one area where I thought he was outstanding and exceptional.”
Arsenal will face a challenging match against Newcastle United on Saturday at St. James’ Park, with Partey aiming to keep his spot in the starting lineup after such a strong performance against Liverpool.
