A former Ghana international, Augustine Arhinful has called for more time to be given to Black Stars head coach CK Akonnor after insisting that no coach can build a national team with a 2-year contract.
The Ghana national team head coach has been on the receiving end of severe backlash after his team performed badly in the first two Group G matches for the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament.
In a game against Ethiopia, Ghana, fortunately, run away with a 1-0 win at the Cape Coast Stadium. Unfortunately, the team was not so lucky and went on to lose 1-0 to South Africa in the second game.
While Ghanaians are calling for CK Akonnor to be sacked, Augustine Arhinful insists he must be given the needed time to build his team.
“You cannot build a national team with a two-year contract. Building a national team takes about 5 years and more,” the former Black Stars attacker said.
According to him, CK Akonnor with the right advice will get Ghana back on track in the World Cup qualifiers.
