The Ghana football association is expected to announce the removal of Winfred Kwaku Osei ‘Palmer’ from the Black Stars management committee, SportsObama.com has gathered.
Osei Palmer, owner of premier league side Tema Youth and an Executive Committee member of the Ghana FA is set to be relieved of his duties in relation to his remarks that sought to question the competence of indigenous coaches.
In the process leading up to the re-appointment of Kwesi Appiah as Black Stars coach, the Black Stars vice chairman is on record to have said no indigenous coach qualifies for the top job.
His comments was met with brutal responses from several quarters of the football fraternity, with veteran sports analyst, Moses Foh Amoaning, calling on him to resign from his Black Stars committee position.
According to Sportsobama.com sources, the Ghana FA hierarchy has resolved to axe the Tema Youth president from the Black Stars portfolio.
Palmer has been completely blackout of the Black Stars preparations ahead of the AFCON 2019 qualifiers which affirms the FA decision to remove him from the team.
In an interview with Accra-based Atinka FM, Palmer confirmed not being officially briefed of the Black Stars programme ahead of the Afcon 2019 qualifiers despite the team having begun training in Accra.
“I only heard about the team’s training schedule through the media but I would not be surprised if I’m relieved of my duties”,
“I wouldn’t be peeved if I’m taken out because the position is not mine”.
Palmer had been clear in his contention that the Black Stars needed a more astute coach and emphasized that NO local coach was competent enough for the job
