Record Turnout For Akufo-Addo In Toronto And NY

Nana Addo Dankwa Akofu Addo and key members of his campaign team received a rousing welcome in Toronto, Canada and New York City, New York on a historic tour to North America.

The tour started in Toronto, Canada on Thursday, May 29, 2008 in Toronto. Accompanying Nana were the following former presidential aspirants; Hon. Yaw Osafo Marfo, Hon. Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Dr. Arthur Kennedy. Also included in Nana’s entourage were, General Secretary of NPP, Nana Ohene Ntow, Nitch Adu Darko, Mustapha Hamid.


At a welcome reception at the Ghana Presbyterian Church nearly four hundred people showed up to give Nana and his campaign team an enthusiastic welcome, the like of its kind has never happened in Canada before. On Friday, May 30, 2008 a dinner dance was organized in honor of Nana Akufo Addo and his campaign team at the Days Inn Hotel. At a well attended dinner dance where tickets were sold out in advance various ethnic groups in Canada and the Ghanaian Ex-Service Men Association showed up to pledge their support for Nana Akufo Addo as the NPP presidential candidate.


Representatives from NPP-USA and NPP-UK/ Ireland branch were at the banquet. The US delegation was headed by NPP-USA First Vice Chairman/Chairman of Connecticut Chapter, Nana Agyei-Yeboah. Also in the NPP-USA delegation were Mr. Eugene Kyerematen, Secretary and Mr. Eugene Ofori, Public Relations Officer of the Connecticut Chapter. The UK/Ireland Branch was represented by Mr. Kyeremeh, Secretary.

In his welcome address, the Chairman of NPP Canada expressed gratitude to Nana Akufo Addo and his campaign team for taking time from their hectic schedule to visit them in Canada. Mr. MacDonald Agbenyo stated that Canada endorses Nana Akufo Addo t o be the next President of the Peoples Republic of Ghana. In his solidarity message, Nana Agyei-Yeboah praised Nana Akufo Addo for his record of human rights achievement in Ghana’s political history. The first vice chairman compared Nana Akufo Addo to the likes of President John F. Kennedy in his ability to challenge the imagination of Ghanaians and unleashing their creative potentials to move Ghana to the new frontier.


Nana Ohene Ntow, NPP General Secretary made powerful and eloquent introduction of the NPP Presidential Candidate that was received with thunderous applause from the audience.


Nana Akufo Addo delivered an inspiring message about his vision and his dream of a better Ghana. He stated that the age of liberty means that we are free to claim ownership of how our country is governed and what it can produce. Ephraim Amo’s song, “Yen Ara Asase Ni” should be the resonating chorus in our march towards our country’s transformation.
