Ghanaian forward Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has been withdrawn by his club, St Pauli, and will not feature for the Black Stars against South Africa on Monday.
Kyereh made his debut for the side against Ethiopia where Ghana clinched a 1-0 victory courtesy of a long-range strike from Wakaso.
German clubs have listed South Africa as a COVID-19 red zone which means that players who play there will be forced to quarantine for at least 10 days.
Since Kyereh is a key member of the Bundesliga 2 side, he has not been allowed to travel with his countrymen as it would mean he will miss crucial games at club level.
Akonnor will have to lineup a depleted side against Bafana Bafana.
