Ex-Ghana international, Augustine Arhinful has jumped to the defence of Black Stars head coach CK Akonnor after an abysmal showing in World Cup qualifiers.
Akonnor has come under serious backlash following Ghana's performance in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifications.
The Black Stars beat Ethiopia 1-0 last Friday in Cape Coast but the performance of the team has faced criticism from Ghanaian fans and connoisseurs.
The uninspiring display last Friday was followed by a disappointing 1-0 defeat to South Africa on Monday.
Even though the majority of Ghanaians are calling for the head of Akonnor, Arhinful believes it's the wrong time to dismiss the Black Stars trainer.
"This is not the best time to sack CK Akonnor, we can talk to him to improve on his performance," Arhinful told Nhyira FM in an interview.
"We have a short period to the next round of matches."
The Black Stars face Zimbabwe in a doubleheader in October in the next round of matches.
