The United Ghanaian Community Church which is a chartered member of the Presbyterian Church, USA (Philadelphia Presbytery), held its 2006 Annual Harvest yesterday, October 22, 2006 at their suburban Melrose Park premises. The harvest, which was aimed at procuring a church van, marked the climax of the church's annual stewardship and thanksgiving season.
In a harvest and thanksgiving message, Evangelist Delali Dzordzorme who was the guest preacher for the occasion, challenged the worshippers to count their blessings, be thankful to God from whom all blessings flow, and to give glory unto the one "who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine," so that they may be filled with all the fullness of God.
In his closing remarks, the founding pastor of the church, Dr. Kobina Ofosu-Donkoh, observed that the prayers, singing, dancing and the general body language of the worshippers during the service, and particularly in response to the message of the day, as well as the charged and spirit-filled atmosphere in the sanctuary, was indicative of a people who had indeed counted their blessings, and who appreciated them, and who, trusting in the continued benevolence of God, believed that God would do even greater things in their lives in the days and months and years ahead. "May the flames of that faith and hope continue to burn in your hearts as you serve the Lord your God,"
he prayed.
