The Sports Ministry has asserted that a visa scandal involving a fake Ghana Paralympic team does not reflect the integrity of Ghana's sports community.
A letter from the Ministry of National Security revealed that nine 'team' members are on the run for impersonation. Eleven athletes obtained visas for the Fjordkraft Bergen City Marathon in Oslo but failed to register for the event.
One member, Nana Antwi, was apprehended trying to leave Norway for Sweden. The team's coach, George Gyamfi Gyasi, died after collapsing. The remaining members absconded, potentially affecting future Ghanaian teams.
The Sports Ministry and Paralympic Committee have denied involvement, citing forged signatures.
