Fuseini and Ahmed Adams formed a solid partnership preventing attackers from breaking through, this led to Brekeum Chelsea conceding just a goal after six games despite facing title challengers Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, and Ashgold.
Despite his assured performance for Berekum Chelsea at the heart of the defense, Fuseini was snubbed for Habib Mohammed as Black Stars head coach CK Akonnor named his very first national team call-up earlier this year in a double-header against Sudan.
Coach Asare Bediako believes his stalwart defender should have received the nod instead of Habib.
“It pained me after Zakaria Fuseini was snubbed for a call up to the Black Stars.”
“The central defensive pair at Berekum Chelsea (Zakaria Fuseini and Ahmed Adams) is very solid and difficult for strikers to penetrate,” he added.
Fuseini is yet to be capped at the senior national team level but was part of the Black Meteors team that missed out on a ticket to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, which has been moved to next year (23 July 2021) due to the coronavirus pandemic.
