Kwame Mickey, Ghanaian music producer, has resolved a copyright dispute with Team Eternity Ghana over the use of 'Defe Defe' lyrics in their song.
Through his OFM company, Mickey announced a License Agreement allowing Team Eternity non-exclusive rights to use the phrase from his original song.
Previously alleging copyright infringement, Mickey had urged YouTube to restrict Team Eternity's video until resolution.
Social media debates ensued over ownership of the phrase, with some arguing it isn't unique to Mickey's production.
Despite structural differences in lyrics, Mickey emphasized similarities, citing 'Defe Defe' as an adverb in Twi describing severity.
Hallelujah Voices originally performed the song in 2004.
