The Koforidua Circuit Court “B” presided over by Ms Mercy Adei Kotei has remanded nine suspects for human trafficking.
The plea of the suspects was not taken and they are to re-appear in court on May 8, this year.
The suspects were arrested during a police raid to rescue some 24 children suspected to have been trafficked to Adrekpota – a fishing community in the Afram Plains of the Eastern Region.
The court was informed by the prosecution that 16 of the children were rescued and they are doing well.
The ages of the trafficked children ranged between five and 13 years and were suspected to be owned by 11 boat masters.
The prosecution said the suspects were arrested to assist in investigation to rescue the children.
