President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on Ghanaian journalists to avoid spreading misinformation that could undermine the integrity of the electoral process.
Speaking at the 28th Ghana Journalists Association’s (GJA) Media Awards in Accra, he urged the media to prioritize truth, fairness, and accuracy in reporting, especially as the country prepares for the 2024 elections.
Akufo-Addo highlighted the media’s critical role in past elections but cautioned against the rise of fake news and sensationalism in the digital age.
He reiterated his commitment to a free and vibrant press as essential to Ghana’s democracy.
