The Ghana Tourism Authority launched the Emancipation Day celebrations in Accra, focusing on the theme "Unity and Resilience: Building Stronger Communities for a Brighter Future."

Deputy Minister Mark Okraku-Mantey highlighted the importance of reflecting on ancestors' struggles and triumphs.

He urged global acknowledgment of Emancipation Day, celebrated on August 1, to honor freedom pioneers.

CEO Akwasi Agyemang announced plans to redevelop tourist sites like the Salaga slave market to commemorate African ancestors and the diaspora's courage and culture.

The celebrations, from July 22 to August 1, 2024, are under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, symbolizing freedom and unity for people of African descent.
