Alcohol isn’t the only problem; I’ll take on media stations promoting gambling – Kofi Kapito

Kofi Kapito, CEO of the Consumer Protection Agency, has voiced serious concerns over media promoting gambling through advertisements on their channels.

He plans to take action against platforms allowing such promotions.

His stance coincides with the Food and Drugs Authority's ban on celebrities endorsing alcohol, recently upheld by the Supreme Court.

Kapito highlighted gambling alongside alcohol and smoking as societal vices needing regulation to protect youth.

He criticized media for lax self-regulation and questioned the effectiveness of Ghana's regulatory bodies.

Kapito emphasized the need for stringent laws to safeguard vulnerable groups from harmful influences promoted via mass media.
