Ghanaian television presenter, Cookie Tabila popularly known as 'Cookietee' has established that Asamoah Gyan broke her heart some 11 years ago, after he missed the penalty that could have sent Ghana to the semi-finals of the World Cup.

Speaking to TV3 sports journalist Komla Adom, Cookie said although she is a sports enthusiast, Asamoah Gyan's missed penalty is a moment that still lingers in her subconscious.

According to Cookie, the pain and disappointment she felt at that time cut deep through her heart, thereby making it an unforgettable moment.

“The first human being to break my heart is Asamoah Gyan. That was 11 years ago Actually he missed the penalty that could have brought me joy. It was very painful but I’m glad that the love for football in me is building up. I can’t keep the love for football away as I support Team Ghana again,” she stated.

It can be recalled that Asamoah Gyan disclosed that his extra-time penalty miss for Ghana against Uruguay in their 2010 World Cup quarter-final will haunt him for the rest of his life.

The former Black Stars captain has since been subjected to several attacks from Ghanaians ever since the incident occurred.
