The Tubingen Chamber Orchestra, currently touring West Africa, will give two concerts in Accra this week. In cooperation with the Goethe- Institut Accra and the German Embassy, the British Council will host the main concert today at 7.30 pm. The internationally experienced orchestra will perform musical pieces by Mozart, Torelli, Schubert, Telemann and Dvorak.

The Tubingen Chamber Orchestra was established in 1957 with the intention of furthering friendly relations with universities and youth organizations abroad and of maintaining and deepening cultural links with the youth from other parts of the world. The history of the orchestra is also the history of its concert tours. It has undertaken 63 tours to 90 countries in all five continents. Since 1998, Gudni A. Emilsson, an Icelander by nationality, has been the Artistic Director and the Conductor of the Orchestra.

The Orchestra's tour to West Africa is supported by the German Federal Foreign Office and the Goethe-Institut.

The La Palm Royal Beach Hotel is organizing a fundraising concert on Saturday 12th April. This concert is by invitation only.
