Ghana misses big chance to host Grammy Africa

Ghana has missed out on hosting the inaugural Grammy Africa Awards, failing to meet requirements set by the Recording Academy.

The event aims to elevate African musical talent akin to the Latin Grammys.

Despite Ghanaian artists still being eligible for nominations, the country's exclusion from hosting means losing out on the prestige and economic benefits associated with such a major global event.

Lady Dentaa Amoateng, Senior Advisor to the Grammy CEO, cited resource constraints as a key reason for Ghana's inability to finalize its participation.

The awards are set to debut between 2027-2028, hosted by Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda, and South Africa.
