Ghanaian Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy says making history at the Ghana Music Awards makes him a champion of the music genre in Ghana.
The ‘Mama’ act won the ‘Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year‘ at the 2018 edition of the awards scheme, making it his fourth consecutive win. He beat Shatta Wale, late Ebony and MzVee to pick the award.
He won the top award of the genre at the awards scheme previously in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
“I am happy, and it actually cements my championship, because four times in a row at the Ghana Music Awards from 2014 till now means a lot,” stated Stonebwoy in an interview with 3news.com
“Winning awards like this just stamps my hard work and makes me fulfilled in a way as an artiste.”
He also added that getting recognition for his works inspires him to work hard: “Being on different platforms like the 3Music Award, and even at the BETs, AFRIMA and making waves locally and internationally only gives me encouragement to keep doing what I always know what to do best.”
Stonebwoy shared reasons why he writes songs based on personal experiences as attested to recently by South African rapper, Nasty C.
“We all go through life and keep inspiring each other. I trust that if I go to the studio to put some creative piece together, majority of the pieces that I weave should be able to inspire them.”
