According to him, he was left with very little option after spending his life savings on hospital bills in a bid to save his wife who suffered from breast cancer; unfortunately, she passed in the course of receiving treatment.
Sharing his ordeal with the host of OneLoveGhanaTV on Monday, August 12, 2019, the musician who noted the music industry was competitive and requires a lot said he had resorted to honouring his fatherly duties with the little he is able to make for the family.
When asked why he’s been silent for the past two to three years, the musician said “I have a lot of children and the last born is very young for me to go out with. You know this music work involves going to studios, granting interviews on TVs, the youngest is three years old and I can’t be walking around with him and that is why I’ve been indoors for these past years”.
Though the musician is trying his best to cater for his four male children, he revealed that his eight-year-old son doubles as a mother to oversee the welfare of the other three in his absence; whiles he goes in search of food.
Attesting to that fact that some in-laws are heartless to the extent of abandoning their children when in crisis, he, on this note advised young couples and would-be spouses to focus on building their nuclear families and be there for each other through thick and thin instead of relying on the extended family when faced with challenges beyond their control.
Mr Nyamekye said, “A man and a woman, when married should understand that, they are a family because if you don’t get a good, caring parent from both side, you’ll suffer.”
He made the statement after noting that, his in-law cared less about the health of her daughter to the extent of travelling outside the country for holidays leaving behind her daughter who was going through severe pains.
