David Nicol-Sey’s description of Shatta Wale as “one big empty barrel” and “the main reason the Ghanaian music industry is failing” has engendered controversy as it has been met with varied reactions.

The award-winning music video director credited for Sarkodie’s ‘Overdose’ and Pappy Kojo’s ‘Makoma’ videos, in a series of tweets, Monday, scolded the dancehall musician for the display of double standards, stressing that the latter’s unmeasured remarks and disposition leave much to be desired.

“Same artist will rant about how the industry is struggling but yet tarnish and insult everyone. This behaviour of his greatly discourages investor confidence and cripples the entire Ghana music industry,” Nicol-Sey stated.

Various social media platforms have been inundated with comments. Whereas some have contradicted Nicol-Sey and touted what they say are enviable achievements and contributions of Shatta Wale towards the industry, others concur with the music video director citing some controversial statements the dancehall musician has made as pieces of evidence to back their claim.

For others, Nicol-Sey is just craving attention knowing that a jab at Shatta Wale will make headlines.

Nicol-Sey has worked with many artistes including Sarkodie, Ric Hassani, Edem, Dee Moneey, Ice Prince, Reggie Rockstone, D-Black, R2bees, M.anifest, Samini, 4×4, VVIP, King Promise, Pappy Kojo and Akwaboah.
