The just ended 2018 Easter Comedy show was nothing short of spectacular and memorable performances as the billed acts kept the auditorium of Accra International Conference Centre roaring with laughter throughout the night.
Ghana's prince of comedy, Lekzy Decomic was the host of the 4-hour event and he did that with poise. One would have easily mistaken him to be one of the billed acts of the night as he plied his trade every time he walked onto the stage to introduce another comedian.
Fast rising comic act, James Brown set the tone using his diversified accents to deliver rib cracking jokes. Experienced Nigerian standup comedian, Gandoki did not disappoint as he caused patrons gasping for air with his stomach wrenching jokes.
He also put to bed the recent debate on whether his home country had earned the right to aid Ghana fight corruption by apologising on behalf of President Buhari.
Musical performances from all three female artistes were on the high as Adina opened the curtains with fan favourites. Nigerian act, Aramide did her bit to cheer patrons but seemed her first two songs were not known in Ghana. She was however saved by her final song as patrons could be seen jamming with some miming along.
Songstress Nana Yaa also received a rousing applause after delivering scintillating stagecraft with her much loved songs. Musical comedian Kenny Blaq left the audience yearning for more after his spontaneous delivery. The high point of his session was however his rendition of one time hitmaker Patapaa’s ‘One Corner’.
Before Okey Bakassi was introduced as the last performer, Uganda’s Salvado had caused patrons to laugh from the very beginning of his act till he left the stage. Bakassi did not fail to leave his mark when he was through with his portion for patrons.
A brief romantic escapade with queen of Ghana’s comedy, Jacintha was enough to get tongues wagging.
The Easter Comedy show is an annual event organized by Event Factory which seeks to make Easter a blissful occasion for its audience while promoting Africa’s finest comedians.
