Kofi Donkor, manager of gospel musician Celestine Donkor, has accused Boomplay of not paying royalties to his artist for over a year.
He urged Boomplay to settle outstanding payments before allegedly closing its Ghana office.
Myjoyonline.com’s investigation revealed that Boomplay doesn’t deal directly with artists for royalties; payments are instead made to distribution platforms, which then pay artists based on share agreements.
Challenges with distribution platforms and licensing agreements have contributed to delays.
Other artists, including Kofi Sarpong, Okyeame Kwame, and Sista Afia, are reportedly affected by these non-payments.
