Two of Ghana’s biggest artistes, Stonebwoy and Samini have appealed to organisers of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) to add money to the plaques.
According to them adding something substantial to the award will give the scheme “more weight” and will encourage artistes to give out their best in order to be recognised by the scheme.
They made this known when the scheme was been launched on September 19.
Stonebwoy a short speech said “We will take advantage of that to showcase our innate to the world. We are grateful and we couldn’t ask for any less but ibi like you for add block to the award”.
Samini in supporting his “son” also said "we are eyeing the trophy. It is right here can I hold it? I want to see how heavy it is. So to add to what Stonebwoy said, it will be nice to have something attached to this otherwise we knowing this is gold and we feeling the weight, we don’t want to be tempted to melt it ooo”.
Winners of the award will go home with a plaque with 23.9 carats of gold.
