Communications Director for Zylofon Music, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo has explained details of Stonebwoy’s deal with Universal Music Group (UMG).
According to him, Stonebwoy’s deal with the Universal Music Group (UMG) is to distribute his songs and nothing more.
He explained this in an interview with Melvina Frimpong Manso on Suncity Radio’s Showbiz 971 in Sunyani.
“In our industry, it is allowed for an artist to sign multiple record labels…depending on the roles the record labels play. we were able to strike a deal with Universal Music Group for Stonebwoy and the deal is exclusively for distribution. The deal was facilitated by Zylofon Music. It is not true that he has parted ways with Zylofon Music.
“We reached an agreement for them to distribute the works of Stonebwoy on the International market. Our relationship with Stonebwoy is still intact. We are still in charge of his recordings, promotions and marketing. His products are owned by Zylofon music,” Arnold said.
He revealed how distributions still remains a challenge for musicians in the country.
“We have figured out that one of the major problems we have in Ghana is about distribution. The link between productions, how a song or an album would reach consumers still remains a challenge.
Penetrating into the international market has always been a bigger problem,” he pointed out.
