The Cake Fair may probably be the most innovative event that Ghanaians have seen in recent times.
The event which was staged on the 30th of July 2016 at the Fiesta Royale Hotel, could be described as a huge success, as it exposed the never heard before Cake Businesses that have conquered the hearts of Accra.
The Roads leading to the venue were choked with heavy vehicular traffic, as many Ghanaians headed to the sweet experience. The venue was filled euphoria, as patrons walked through the various stands, in the search for the best cakes Ghana has to offer.
Yellow October Events and Voice ads (organizers of the event) hit many high notes, including the introduction of live musical performances from VGMA winner, Adomaa and the beautiful Kati G, backed by the Calabash band. This had patrons rippled in excitement throughout the day.
Speaking to a few of the vendors around 2pm, they seemed excited as patronage was high and their stock had been exhausted, due to the overwhelming turn out. “The atmosphere is nothing like I’ve felt before. I’ve been able to sell all my cake, network with potential customers and I got to serve cake to Bola Ray”, an excited vendor told me.
Following the success of the fair, many patrons have called for a sequel to be held in December. Some people I spoke to sites the fact that eager high school students were left out due to the academic time table and an event in December would give them the chance to finally partake in the sweet experience.
Organizers of the event expressed gratitude to patrons, sponsors, supporters and all celebrities that came through. “We put in the work as a team and it paid off. We’re grateful to everyone who made the first ever Cake Fair, a historic one”, said one of the organizers.
