The National Theatre of Ghana faces a copyright dispute over the play 'The Legend of Aku Sika', scheduled for June 2024.
George Apraku Dentu claims the play is based on his father's novel 'Aku Sika' without permission.
Dentu suspects the play by Professor Martin Owusu was inspired by his father's work.
However, George Quaye of Image Bureau argues that Owusu drew from a folktale, not Dentu's father's novel.
Despite the controversy, the play will proceed in honor of Professor Owusu, starring actors like Mawuli Semevor and Edinam Atatsi on June 1st, 2nd, 8th, and 9th at the National Theatre.
