The Board Chairman for Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs), Nii Ayitey Hammond has described Medikal’s inability to win a single award during the VGMAs despite receiving seven nominations as disappointing.
“I was a little disappointed when Medikal went home with no award,” Mr. Hammond told Morning Starr host Francis Abban.
Nonetheless he urged the ‘too risky’ hit maker to get over the disappointment of not winning an award at the just ended VGMAs and focus on his career.
“Being nominated alone is a big deal,” he added.
Medikal robbed
Controversial dancehall artist, Shatta Wale wading into Medikal’s misfortune alleged that the latter was robbed by organisers of the awards.
Gospel artist Joe mettle won the sought-after “Artiste of the Year” award. He scooped the award from EL, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Mzvee and Medikal.
In a tweet Sunday, Shatta Wale declared that “Medikal is artiste of the year…But pls don’t follow these foolish artistes to go for certain programs…Be you!!!Do ur ting. Bless”
