The Effutu Constituency Chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Lawrence Paa Nii Lamptey has said the party has put in place all the necessary arrangements for a successful constituency election.
Mr Lamptey made this comment while outlining plans for the NDC’s upcoming congress which will see the election of new constituency executives.
He called on delegates to vote for persons who can lead the party to win the 2020 polls.
Mr Lamptey also expressed the hope that all members of the branch who will be at the venue will comport themselves and adhere to laid down rules in the interest of the party.
He further urged all delegates to be dedicated members of the party who can work to take over the parliamentary seat from the NPP in the 2020 elections.
Mr Lamptey said the NDC is “a big family with an unprecedented track record in the country’s democracy” and expressed the need for contestants to desist from any behaviour or act that could disrupt their forward march towards victory in the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Constituency election
The party’s constituency election is slated for June 23, 2018.
The General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia had earlier indicated that nominations were open to constituencies that have finalised their branch elections, adding that persons are entreated to visit their constituencies and fill the forms within a five-day period.
“For the constituencies that have concluded their branch elections, we want to give them permission to open nominations for the constituency elections from Monday, 7 May to Sunday 11 May. So for five days anybody who aspires to pick a form to contest at the constituency level can go to their constituency offices to the designated officials and pick a form to complete,” he said.
