The General-Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has slammed his deputy, Koku Anyidoho for refusing to chair the Grounds Committee tasked to see to the grounds preparation for the upcoming national delegates congress of the party at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre for the election of national officers of the party.
He said when the various committees were put in place on Wednesday, the deputy general secretary, Koku Anyidoho, was asked to chair the Grounds Committee for all the necessary ground works at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre for the successful organisation of the congress but he roundly rejected the appointment on the grounds that it was a deliberate attempt by him (Asiedu Nketia) to tie him down in Accra so that he (Koku) will not have the opportunity to go round and campaign to unseat him in the general secretary contest.
Speaking on Adom FM yesterday on the preparation towards their national delegates congress which is scheduled for November 3, Asiedu Nketia popularly known as General Mosquito said he was completely shocked that Koku refused to do party work which is part of the work of the general secretary of the party which he (Koku) is contesting for.
“If you say you don’t want to work for the party but rather you are going to campaign for votes to become the general secretary of the party, then what are you campaigning for?” Asiedu Nketia queried and stressed that “the same work that Koku is refusing to do is the same work that he wants party delegates to vote for him to do”
According to Asiedu Nketia, his deputy has been complaining to people that he (Asiedu Nketia) does not assign him any responsibility or delegate any general secretary’s work to him and that he (Asiedu Nketia) has arrogated all the work to himself so he is more or less redundant at the party office.
“Already he has been telling people that I do not give him work to do and now there is a perfect job for you to do as the deputy general secretary to showcase that indeed if you are voted as the general secretary you can do the work even better but rather you declined to do that job and decide to go and campaign. What will you tell the delegates? He asked.
Asked by the host of Adom FM morning show, Captain Smart whether there is any bad blood between him and his deputy, Koku Anyidoho, the NDC general secretary who is being contested by his deputy said he has a very good working relationship with his deputy.
According to NDC scribe, he has two deputies, George Lawson who is in charge of Finance and Administration and Koku Anyidoho who is in charge of Operations but anytime he travels out of the jurisdiction he asks Koku to act in his stead.
“Koku has been acting in my absence but he says I don’t give him work to do,” he said stressing that because of that the other deputy general secretary, George Lawson picked a bone with him (Asiedu Nketia) for always sidelining him.
Koku has now decided to be an ordinary member of the Grounds Committee which is now chaired by the national organiser, Kofi Adams. The rest of the committee members are Kwame Agbodza (NDC MP for Adaklu); Sidi Abubakar Musah, Prof Kwame Addo, Joe Gidisu, Stan Dogbe, Nii Adjebu Lamptey, Joseph Nii Laryea Affotey Agbo, MP for Kpone Katamanso, Anthony Nukpenu, Madam Felicia Ackuaku, James Kpatakpa, Alfred Boyan, Hackman Kabero and Koku Anyidoho
