National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Wa West Constituency in the Upper West Region, Superintendent (retired) Peter Lanchene Tuubo has revealed that he was already a card bearing member of the party.
According to the former Executive Secretary to the immediate past Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Asante-Apeatu he joined the NDC in 1992 under the tenure of now former President Jerry John Rawlings who ushered in the Fourth Republic,
Speaking on Accra-based Citi Fm Point Blank monitored by MyNewsGh.com, he said “You know before 1992 before I joined the police, I was an NDC member but when the police is recruiting, they don’t ask you for party card, we ask you whether you qualify according to criteria, they don’t care which party once belongs to. You are allowed as a policeman to do anything you want to do and not become partisan police officer”
Asked how he was paying his dues to make him a member with good standing in accordance with the laws governing the umbrella family, he said “My family members told me that they have been preparing me for this which was why they paid my dues without me knowing about it. They begged from 2012, I rejected it in 2016 but this time around, my family came with a condition to choose police service or politics and I chose the latter because they knew I was a political animal since my youthful days”
Superintendent Peter Lanchene Tuubo last month humiliated the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Wa West, Mr Joseph Yieleh Chireh.
The retired senior police officer polled 755 as against 317 garnered veteran politician and former Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Joseph to represent the NDC in the 2020.
