Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed concerns about individuals without royal lineage buying their way into traditional leadership, fueling chieftaincy disputes that hinder development.
During his campaign tour on June 4, he emphasised the need to codify lines of succession to resolve these disputes.
Bawumia promised resources for judicial councils to complete this codification.
The acting President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, Professor Nii Welentsi IV, acknowledged Bawumia's potential and urged him to live up to expectations if elected. He also dismissed claims that Bawumia's calm demeanor indicates weakness in leadership.
