The National Democratic Congress (NDC) plans to convert degraded illegal mining (galamsey) sites into agricultural land if elected.
Their "Tree for Life" reforestation policy focuses on planting cash crops like cocoa, palm, and rubber on reclaimed land, addressing open mining pits long-term.
The party also aims to revive damaged water bodies through a "Blue Water Initiative," managed by the Water Commission and Ghana Water Company.
Additionally, the NDC proposes to categorize mining into small, medium, and large-scale sectors, with no plans to ban small-scale mining but rather to ensure it is environmentally sustainable.
