NDC race: Kojo Bonsu pulled out after realizing Mahama still reigns – Ephson

Pollster, Ben Ephson has said that, former KMA boss Kojo Bonsu’s decision to opt out of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagberear race is as a result of the fear of being defeated miserably in the internal polls .

According to Mr. Ephson, the few campaign tours Kojo Bonsu has embarked on might have informed him that the former president still has the grounds therefore standing against him will actually be a waste of time and resources.

“In politics there are surprises but am sure when he want round he saw that John Mahama has the ground and will win so instead of him saying Mahama will win so I support Mahama he’s been smart by saying he will support anyone who emerges as winner” he told Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa Fm Monday.

Kojo Bonsu pulled out of the flagbearership race just when the council of Elders of the party have intervened to reduce the GH¢420,000 nomination and filing fee to GH¢320,000.

Meanwhile he was a signatory to the petition that was sent to the Council of Elders of the party about the high cost of nomination and filing fees.

In a statement, Mr Bonsu said the decision to opt out of the race is as a result of “considerable deliberation and reflection.”

The statement further states “As a dedicated member of the NDC, I look forward to working with the Party and the elected Flagbearer to advance issues of importance to our beloved country. I will use this opportunity to wish all the aspirants the best of luck, and I urge them to unite after the election and work together with the eventual winner, because without unity we cannot defeat the NPP come 2020”.
