The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dissociated itself from comments made by the Bantama constituency chairman of the party, Fiifi Mensah.
Fiifi Mensah had urged Ghanaians not to sabotage the good policies of the ruling administration by voting YES in the upcoming referendum.
“I’m appealing to all the good people of Ghana, especially homes that have benefitted from the Free SHS, Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) and other social interventions instituted by this government to thank the president by voting YES in the upcoming referendum”, he is reported to have said.
Reacting to this on UTV morning show 'Adekye Nsroma', Henry Kokofu, the Member of Parliament for Bantama Constituency in the Ashanti Region.
"Let me state categorically that this is not the position of the party. We are all behind the actions of the President. We are calling for a YES vote during the upcoming referendum" he said.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission has scheduled December 17, 2019, for Ghanaians to decide by a YES or NO vote, the election of MMDCEs, a major campaign promise of the NPP in the run-up to the 2016 election.
